Instrument picture

The Aethalometer AE33 collects continuously aerosol sample on a filter tape measuring at the same time the attenuation of transmitted light at wavelengths of 370, 470, 520, 590, 660, 880 and 950 nm. The measurement of absorption at 880 nm interpreted as concentration of Black Carbon (BC). The time base of the measurements is adjusted to 1 min under total flow of 5LPM. The instrument incorporates the patented dual spot method, providing elimination of the changes in response due to ‘aerosol loading’ effects and a real-time calculation of the ‘loading compensation’ parameter which offers insights into aerosol optical properties.
